Introducing Tiopex®

Preservative free badge.
  • Non-inferior IOP control compared to 0.5% aqueous timolol drops
  • Tiopex contains timolol maleate 1 mg/g in a preservative-free, single-dose eye gel formulation
  • Timolol maleate is a non-cardioselective beta-blocker, with partial agonist potential and a non-significant membrane stabilising effect1
  • Timolol maleate reduces intraocular pressure (IOP)1

Tiopex is indicated for the reduction of elevated IOP in patients with ocular hypertension or chronic open angle glaucoma.1It is the only once-daily, preservative-free timolol gel.

Tiopex is lower strength than other timolol eye drops (0.1% compared to 0.25% or 0.5%) and is dosed once daily; however, it provides non-inferior IOP control compared to 0.5% aqueous timolol drops dosed twice daily over 24 hours2 and after 12 weeks.3,4

Patients switched from preserved 0.5% aqueous timolol twice daily to Tiopex have significantly lower adverse effects.4

Due to the lower strength and once-daily dose there is a 10-fold reduction in timolol administered and 90% less systemic absorption compared with timolol 0.5% twice daily.5

Tiopex features a ‘fluid gel’ vehicle (carbomer and polyvinyl alcohol) which enhances eye residency time and provides additional ocular comfort without significant blurring.6.7
